Description of activity
Students select 15 numbers between 1 and 100.
They express each of the selected numbers in two different ways using mixed operations, eg 2 = 2 ÷ 2 + 1; 2 = 4 x 1 – 2.
Students have calculated solutions to problems involving mixed operations and used formal written algorithms.
Criteria for assessing learning

Students will be assessed on their ability to:
- use appropriate strategies for addition and subtraction
- use appropriate strategies for multiplication and division
- express numbers in different ways using mixed operations.
