Implementation

In K–6 the syllabuses are designed to be taught within the NESA recommended percentages of time for each key learning area in a typical school week. Further information regarding time spent on each K-6 subject can be found in the Parents’ Guide to the NSW Primary Syllabuses.

In Years 7–12 they are designed to be taught within the existing NSW indicative time requirements.

Implementation

Kindergarten – Year 6
2017 Start teaching Geography.
Continue teaching English, Mathematics, Science and History
Years 7–10
2017 Start teaching Geography in Year 7 and Year 9.
Continue teaching English, Mathematics, Science and History
2018 Start teaching Geography in Year 8 and Year 10
Years 11–12
2017 Familiarisation and planning for the new Stage 6 English, Mathematics, Science and History syllabuses
2018 Start teaching the new Year 11 English, Mathematics, Science and History courses.
In Term 4 start teaching the new Year 12 English, Mathematics, Science and History courses
2019 First HSC examination year for the new Stage 6 English, Mathematics, Science and History courses
